Flyers pay tribute to late owner Ed Snider before Game 3 (Video)

One week after the Philadelphia Flyers learned of the passing of their owner, Ed Snider, the team and their fans honored him prior to Monday night's Game 3 of their series against the Washington Capitals.

A sign was hung outside the rink and t-shirts were handed out to fans featuring Snider’s silhouette within the Flyers logo. Wristbands lit up Wells Fargo Center before the lights went dark. Logos of Snider’s initials, EMS, lit up the ice before a video tribute played on the scoreboard.

Following a moment of silence, long-time Flyers anthem singer Lauren Hart, wearing a No. 67 Snider jersey, came out and belted an emotional rendition of “God Bless America” with some help from Kate Smith.

Before the Flyers’ regular-season home finale, Hart sang “God Bless America” while FaceTiming with Snider, who was at his home in California.

It didn’t take long for the Flyers, who are down 0-2 in the series, to feed off the emotion of the pre-game tribute. Michael Raffl needed only 57 seconds to open the scoring as the Wells Fargo Crowd erupted.

"I think we can use it to our advantage," captain Claude Giroux said this week, via Wayne Fish. "It was a tough week last week. But we're playing for Mr. Snider here. It's going to be emotional, not only for the players, the staff and the organization, but also the fans. It's going to be something.”
