Sharks host fan who saved jerseys, lost home in Fort McMurray fire

Before the fire that raged through Fort McMurray engulfed his house, Billy Foley's girlfriend grabbed four San Jose Sharks jerseys that meant so much to him. Everything else was gone.

The Sharks learned of what happened to Foley, and reached out to their fan.

From the San Jose Mercury News:

The Sharks heard about the chain of events and mascot SJ Sharkie sent a one-of-a-kind heritage jersey to Foley. Last week, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson reached out Foley and his family and invited them to San Jose to be at Game 4 of the Western Conference finals against the St. Louis Blues.

According to a team release, the Sharks are flying the family to San Jose on Friday and will give the family to a VIP experience on Saturday, including Zamboni Rides, high-fiving the team when they come out of the locker room and, naturally, new Sharks jerseys.

Foley and family arrived in San Jose on Friday, greeted by the Sharks mascot, with jerseys in hand.

Also greeting Foley at the airport was the media. He was genuinely touched by the support from his favorite team.

Knowing they could never replace what he lost in the fire, the Sharks hope to create something positive out of an earth shattering tragedy.
