Gordie Howe funeral service, saying farewell to Mr. Hockey: Live Blog

After fans and admirers said goodbye on Tuesday at Joe Louis Arena, Gordie Howe will be laid to rest on Wednesday following the funeral service at Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit.

Watch the service live here, and keep up with the our live blog of the services and memorial mass throughout the day.

11:13 a.m. ET - Still thinking about this from the memorial service:

11:11 a.m. ET – “He was powerful. Who else did you know could bring a man to his knees with a handshake?” – Murray Howe

11:09 a.m. ET – "He never had a bad thing to say about anyone -- except referees." - Murray Howe.

11:08 a.m. ET – “Don’t ever gripe about the cards you’ve been dealt, don’t worry about anyone else’s hand, just play the card the best you can, and be thankful that you get to play.” – Gordie Howe’s advice to Murray Howe.

11:06 a.m. ET – Dr. Murray Howe, speaking on behalf of the Howe family, says he “still pinches himself” about the fact that Gordie Howe was his father. “As if a bridge wasn’t enough, he has his name on schools, ice rinks, books, movies” as well as the “Gordie Howe elbow” and the Gordie Howe hat trick.” He said half the kids in Saskatoon are named after him.
