Penguins' Bryan Rust skates, will be game-time decision for Game 2

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust took part in Wednesday’s optional pre-game skate ahead of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final and will be a game-time decision, according to head coach Mike Sullivan.

That’s good news on his progression following the hit to the head he received by Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks in Game 1.

Rust left the game but returned several minutes later. He would take one shift before exiting for good.

After skating on his own Tuesday and with his teammates on Wednesday, Rust said he feels good and will see how his body reacts this afternoon before a decision will be made.

“Each day is getting a little bit better and that’s all I can hope for,” he said.

Marleau wasn’t punished for the hit, something Rust wasn’t too concerned about.

“The hit is what it is. The league looked at it. They dealt with it,” he said. “They did what they thought was right. I didn’t really take the time to look at it.”
