Brent Burns beats Flames with 'Gordie Howe Hat Trick' (Video)

San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns cuts an intimidating figure, but he’s never been a fighter in his career.  In fact before Monday’s game against the Calgary Flames, Burns had only been in six regular season fights.

But against the Flames, things got feisty for the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Burns. He got into a fight with 6-foot-2, 207-pound Flames forward Garnet Hathaway after a scrum in front of his own net.

Burns ended up with a 'Gordie Howe Hat Trick' scoring his 24th goal, which leads all NHL defensemen, and notching the game-winning assist in a 2-1 victory.

Here is the assist on Joe Pavelski's OT winner:

With the win, the Sharks moved to 78 points, just two behind the Los Angeles Kings for second place in the Pacific Division.
