Mike Emrick lives out dream calling Pittsburgh Pirates game (Video)

If you’ve ever listened to an NHL game on NBC or NBCSN, chances are you’ve heard play-by-play man Mike Emrick drop a reference to the Pittsburgh Pirates, sometimes finding creative ways of shoe-horning one in.

A huge fan of the Major League Baseball team, Emrick lived out a dream on Thursday when he got to call two innings of the Spring Training game between the Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays for KDKA radio.

Emrick said he last called a baseball game when he was a graduate student at Miami University, an experience he described to MLB.com as “awful.” He’s been calling NHL games for over 40 years now.

This memory will probably rank up there in Emrick’s Pirates fandom along with the time he threw out the first pitch at a regular season game in 2008 and that time he notched a hit in his first at-bat during a 2012 fantasy camp:

"I'm excited about what's happened," Emrick told MLB.com. "I don't know if I was very good, but I was excited to have the experience."
