Skelleftea grabbed a commanding 3-0 series lead over HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League playoffs on Saturday. It was their second straight overtime win and came in unexpected fashion.
With a face-off in HV71’s defensive zone, Jimmie Ericsson not only won the draw, but scored directly from it, a la Mario Lemieux.
Said Ericsson via Expressen: “Sometimes you have the luck, and I had [it] this time."

The play doesn't happen very often, so it's kind of easy to understand why HV71 netminder Fredrik Pettersson-Wentzel wasn't prepared to react to a shot directly off the draw. Then again, this isn't the first time a goal like this has happened to him. Remember this wacky Leksand goal from 2014?
Tough break, Freddie. Again.
