Apple is looking for an evangelist for the Apple Watch

Apple is looking for an “Apple Watch Evangelist” according to a job listing on its website. The company is looking for a “motivated iOS app development expert” to join its Technology Evangelism team.
Evangelists work with third-party developers to promote and develop an ecosystem around a device or an OS. The company wants to make sure that the Apple Watch has a flourishing App Store like the iOS App Store for the iPhone and iPad.
As explained by Apple in its job description, as an evangelist you will need to “work closely with 3rd party developers to help them build platform differentiating, next generation apps for iOS, with a primary focus on Apple Watch apps. You’ll use your app development know-how and experience to communicate app architecture, design, and programming best-practices. You’ll work closely with Apple’s engineering and marketing organizations on new technologies and frameworks, and enhancements to existing ones. You’ll help to define technical sessions for Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference as well as seasonal Tech Talks and other developer facing workshops and events.”
The key qualifications required for the job are as follows:
- To qualify for this role, you must be proficient in and have proven experience with Objective-C, using Xcode and Instruments, and debugging and optimizing UIKit-based code. You must have developed native iOS apps, have a desire to help others make truly great apps, love variety, enjoy working with people, and believe in Apple.
- The ideal candidate must have:
- At least 5 years of programming experience with the C, C++, and Objective-C programming languages.
- Portfolio of iOS development experience.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Possess a professional and credible demeanor.
- Proven public speaking, presentation, and writing skills.
- Excellent collaborative skills.
- Highly motivated and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
It was only earlier today that Apple’s Retail SVP Angela Ahrendts told its employees that the Apple Watch will only be available in Spring 2015.
